It is getting cool and tomatoes love heat. Here is a tip that my wife Kathy read about last week. The small flowers and small green tomatoes are not going to mature before the frost arrives. Prune both the flowers and the small tomatoes so that the energy from the plant goes to the tomatoes that are close to ripening.
If the tomatoes are close and seem not to be making progress, put them into a brown paper bag with a banana. Don’t allow the fruit to touch each other. In the past I have put several tomatoes into one bag and it doesn’t work well. Tomorrow I will try the bag and banana trick. Let me know if it works for you.
Anyone have their grandmother’s great recipe using green tomatoes?
